Holistic View of Innovation

We strongly believe taking a Holistic approach to innovation is the right way to go. Clearly it becomes a big commitment to make but the investment in delivering a changed culture that understands, is comjfortable and wanting to 'think' innovation is the huge payoff. It starts with considering all the people, not just the selected few. It needs to unite everyone into making their personal commitment to this quest for success. It takes on the values and norms of 'owning' a piece of the new action, it becomes (over time) a 'fit' everyone wants to be part of as it gives a greater satisfaction to daily work.

Taking a holistic path considers all the people, all the resources and the total organization as a whole.

Goal setting for innovation is important and can be simply broken down into three parts:

  1. What is the desired state and values wanted

  2. What form and resource will this take to support the desired state

  3. Being sure all understand the future landscape desired

We view things today mostly from our past experiences, the environment we work in and what is around us and the culture our organization offers- we stay within our comfort zone until there is a compelling need for change that we want to identfy with.

To succeed with innovation we do need to make any change goal driven at personal as well as organizational level. Innovation needs to be seen in a different perspective as offering a real potential to be a major source of inspiration, a better way of thinking and doing things, a clear driver of wanting a real difference and the catalyst for sustainable growth. To achieve this it needs to “fit” the whole entity as everyone needs to identify and feel they are “owning” a piece of the new action required or they will resist any change initiative unless they feel it is valuable to them.

We strongly urge a holistic approach in any discussions we have on innovation. Going 'holistic' for innovation has lasting value- let us explain this more to you.
